New Haven Yard

There isn't a real rail yard at New Haven, Vermont, but since it is near the junction depot, I call it that. The folowing five images are the yard from left to right, starting with the roundhouse. This is another Atlas styrene kit. I really need to make a turntable for it, but don't want to spend the money on the store-bought ones. I haven't quite figured out the wiring for it, but don't imagine it to be too difficult, especially with the DCC system.

Below we see the interlocking tower and the yard office along with some engines.

Freight house and New Haven Junction Depot.

This is the servicing area and some spur tracks.

The last spur. From here back to the left is the lead-in to the roundhouse.

I have a servicing area with a coal tower and a water tank. The coaling tower is a Model Power kit. It was pretty cheap compared to the Walthers kit, but the fit was not so good and it took a little work to get it together. I had a lot of trouble getting the weathering right. I think the colors are OK but it is shiny. I can try to dull it out with some pastel chalk.

I need a sand tower here as well, then it might be complete. The yard is not arranged as exactly as I would like. I may need to get rid of the roundhouse and build an engine house instead and try to free up some room.
